Merry Christmas from Adbusters

Mouvement Anti-Noël: Xmas Resistance en français; a French-language website based on this one!

Adbusters: These folks seem to understand the problems with Christmas. The holiday-themed cover of one memorable issue was a scene in which the landscape is landfill. Our point exactly.

Buy Nothing Day is another great idea from the folks at Adbusters. It wasn't exactly planned this way, but Buy Nothing Day just happens to be the the first day of the Christmas Resistance Holiday Non-Shopping Season. They have expanded the concept to where it meets ours: Buy Nothing Christmas!

Buy Nothing SF is a fun, loosely-knit group of Buy Nothing Day revelers in San Francisco. Their links are pretty useful, too.

Buy Nothing Christmas -- which predates Adbusters' campaign of the same name -- actually has a Jack Chick tract (of sorts) about Jesus shopping for sandals.

Buy Nothing Christmas (#2) is Adbusters yet again, taking Buy Nothing Day to the next logical step.

Reverend Billy

Reverend Billy & the Church of Stop Shopping For those who think Christmas could use more religious overtones, here's a preacher we can heartily endorse.

Santarchy in the USA! One unexpected outcome of globalization and deregulated world markets has been a proliferation of Santa Clauses. For some reason, the authorities do not seem to be pleased about this development.

Santa Cycle Rampage! Some of these new Santas have moved to Chicago, and traded in their reindeers for bicycles.

Tree Revolt. Tired of the the Christmas Clearcut, some trees have taken to the streets.
